Sunday class examples for my students

The stranger by the moon
The owl is a bird that has a lot of character and is a fun subject to paint. Awkward looking angles just somehow works very well with these birds. They have necks that twist and turn at angles that other birds would never be able to physically achieve. With there big yellow eyes they can create a variety of expressions. With this painting i like to use the moon as a framing device to uncover or reveal the creature.
The wise Observer

In this painting i would imagine the owl sitting on top of a branch and looking for its pray. Standing tall and also being a aware of the surroundings with the four senses; touch, listen, see, smell Looking for the best moment to move and catch its pray. To reserve energy well the chance is not there..
