"fish for freedom" my second piece that made it to the framers and managed to get sold. What a blessing with great news today. The concept of the fish dates back when I first started to paint, I painted for 10 years straight with the koi carp before I did anything else. This was my masters most treasured subject, he was very meticulous about how the lines flowed and how the scales joined, how the fish spaced on the paper. Later I was given the freedom to create. Flowers bloomed and water and its flow became abstract lines and dots. Lines directed the eyes and dots put in the full stops to the sentence. "I present you my sweet heart" like a object we give our fragile hearts away and along the lines we break it and fix it. Sweet sugar colours stick like glue to our recipe to repair and mend. It's like laws of physics, sweet people gravitate towards one another, like the threads of gold pouring out, our love is precious . Titled:A silent beat of sweetness This painting was painted during a hard time in 2020 when covid took so many lives and kept everyone in social distant. Small pulse of candy colours stuck to a small fragile broken heart, a metaphor to life and all its colours.
